Tate Modern - London
United Kingdom (London)
Museum web site

The Tate collections are distributed between four Tate galleries in the United Kingdom; Tate Britain, Tate Modern in London, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives (Cornwall). The Tate organization does not specify in which gallery works of art are displayed. The London collections are split, with British works displayed at Tate Britain (Millbank), with a few exceptions and modern foreign works displayed at Tate Modern (Bankside).Additionally, works can be moved to both national museums and to foreign museums on loan. This is the situation with many major art museums. For ease of reference all works belonging to the Tate have been entered under London, with a fairly clear distinction between modern works by foreign artists at Bankside and works by British artists at Millbank. Some of the better known modern British works will be displayed at Tate Modern, Bankside or at Liverpool and St Ives.
