Auguste Allongé
(French, 1833 - 1898)
Pupil of Léon Cogniet and Ducornet. He is well known for his skills with charcoal; an expert of his time said: "Allongé, it's the charcoal drawing, and the charcoal drawing, it's Allongé!". In 1875 he published a book about this technic which has been translated in several languages. In France his works can be seen, for example, in the museums of Troyes, Le Havre, Le Puy en Velay.
